In the first match of the Season 2001, the Panthers welcomed theYouth Champions of the Saarland. It was the rematch of a friendship game from last year at Saarbruecken, which the Panthers won 36:12. The Panthers won the Coin Toss and decided, to receive the ball. Straight away with the first drive, the Panthers scored, after a combination of pass and run. But also the brilliant prepared Defense let nothing burn, and controlled the Hurricanes Offense almost total, so that they hardly ever came out of their own territory. Unfortunately, it was at no time a thrilling game, because the dominance of the Panthers was too big.
